Thanks for your interest in Bruised Camels. Here are a few more details on me and my vision for the community, newsletter, etc. Click here to send me a message if you have other questions. I’d love to hear from you.
Who are you?
If you’re interested in my professional story, checkout LinkedIn for the full details. Short version…I’ve spent 30 years loaning money to entrepreneurs trying to change the world.
The non-professional story has several highlights. Grew-up in small-town Indiana with teacher parents and the best big sister money could buy. Lived in Chicago area since coming here for college in 1984. Married just shy of three decades (yes, she’s a saint.) Dad to three strapping young lads (2 in college and one graduated into the world as a Park Ranger in Wisconsin.)
As a family, we spend tons of time in Wisconsin’s Door County, our home away from home, where we hike, bike, fish, eat, drink, and otherwise be merry.
Who are Bruised Camels?
If the story about Jesus and the rich young ruler (with the whole camel through the eye of the needle thing) makes you a little uncomfortable, then you’re a Bruised Camel.
We’re Jesus Followers working in the world of business. Trying to be faithful. Trying to make a difference. Trying to make a living. Getting a little beat up at times. If that’s you. Welcome home!
What are the newsletter and podcast about?
Each edition will have links to resources you’ll find helpful in your journey as a Jesus Follower in the marketplace. Themes include:
Business – Resources on leadership, strategy, marketing, ops, finance, tech, etc.
Investing – Actionable ideas about investing wisely and bringing an investment mindset to your giving
Jesus – Inspiration and resources for living faithfully in your workplace
The Kitchen Drawer – Random stuff to make you The Most Interesting Man in the World (or at least in your office) Dad jokes, music, apps, DIY, books, sports, podcasts, and maybe even some fashion and food
How often do you publish?
Every two weeks on Wednesday (Hump day, but of course!)
Are you a cult?
No. I’m a poly-denominational Christian. I grew up Lutheran while attending Mennonite vacation Bible school, going to old-school Moody Bible College revivals, and spending summers at an Evangelical summer camp.
As an adult, I stick with the Great Commandment, the Great Commission, and the Apostle’s Creed (if you’re looking for a “statement of faith.”)
Is this really free? What's the catch?
Free? Yes. Totally free. Maybe someday, there will be related things that require purchase. But, only if I’m sure they’re valuable, and I’ll be obnoxiously transparent about it.
Catches? None!
